READ AND DO THIS NOW:
1- You need your IRB and your Journal, and a pen or pencil.
If you do not have these items GET THEM NOW.
2- Sit in the formation where you like.
3- Keep your stuff on your desk or in your basket under your desk. Do not put them on the floor, if you slide it in from the back, everything will fit.
BELL RINGER:
1- In your Journal, on a clean page- write your IRB book title at the top of the page and today's date.
2- Write 3 things you like about your book SO FAR.
3- Using the post-it notes on your desk, take one- write your NAME and PERIOD on the post-it, along with next Friday's date 9/1/2017 on the post-it.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- We'll discuss the study guide for Monday's quiz and watch any videos we missed Thursday. It is posted in Google Classroom.
2- After our discussion, we'll read and I'll pull you up for reading goal conferences.
3- Don't forget to prepare for the quiz on Monday. It will be multiple choice and matching.

READ AND DO THIS NOW:
1- You need your Chromebooks, your Journal, and a pen or pencil. If you do not have these items GET THEM NOW.
2- Sit in the formation where you like. DO NOT SIT next to someone you know you are going to talk or visit with. If I have to move anyone I will assign seats for the entire class.
3- Put all your items except your Chromebook and your Journal in the basket of your desk. Do not put them on the floor, if you slide it in from the back, everything will fit.
BELL RINGER:
1- In your Journal, look at what you packed in your suitcase yesterday.
2- Now imagine if you were going into hiding for TWO years in a very small space, and you can never return to your home. Hiding means NO ONE can know you are there-- you cannot make noise 10-12 hours a day, and of course, the internet or any other electronic means that can locate you or give someone knowledge of where you are is out of the question.
3- What would you pack NOW? Write a paragraph about what you would really put in the suitcase and why?
4- When you're done writing, share with your group and be ready for a larger group discussion.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- After we talk about the bell ringer, we'll discuss the Anne Frank slide show.
2- We'll discuss and watch the additional videos and take notes.
3- Students should be taking notes on what they learn, and they should take notes on who was in the Annex and details about them.Together you and your group need to go through the last slide and look at The Secret Annex and where Anne and her family and friends lived in hiding. Take notes about what you learn in your journal. There will be a quiz on this information next week.

Open a new page (should be page EIGHT in your journal) and write a paragraph on the prompt below.
You have to choose your most important belongings and place them in the suitcase below. What would you put in the suitcase and why?
Give me details, examples, and describe everything of importance in your life that you will pack up. You must FILL this suitcase because you do not know when you are coming back or if you will come back at all. You must tell WHY you would put these items into your suitcase.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- When you are done writing in your journals, we'll talk about who owned this suitcase during The Holocaust.
2- In your groups, take turns reading slides in a clockwise direction in order to get through the Anne Frank slide show.
3- Together you and your group need to go through the last slide and look at The Secret Annex and where Anne and her family and friends lived in hiding. Take notes about what you learn in your journal. There will be a quiz on this information next week.

3- Put all your items except your Chromebook, earbuds, and IRB in the basket of your desk. Do not put them on the floor, people can trip over your stuff.

CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- STATION ONE Reading: Newsela: Anne Frank
Go to Newsela.com and log in with Google. You should already be entered in our class and you will see an assigned article called “Authors: Anne Frank.” Read the article at 1120L unless I tell you otherwise and complete the WRITE assignment. If you have time left at your station- take the quiz as well. If you do not get to the quiz that okay- just make sure you WRITE about the article in the assignment section.
If you do not have a Chromebook, there are hard copies on the clipboard. Answer the question below on the lined paper or the back of the article.
Newsela's Write Prompt
Write a short paragraph that explains the central idea of the article. Use at least two details from the article to support your response.

Go to www.oneclipatatime.org and watch the short video that automatically loads. USE YOUR EARBUDS. Then click on the tab called “Paper Clips Project” and select the option that says “Paper Clips Project” under that. Read that page, it should start with “The Silent Protest…” After you have finished that page, click on this link and watch the trailer for the documentary.

3- STATION THREE Researching: Holocaust Museum
Go to www.ushmm.org and explore the website to learn all about what the Holocaust was, when it happened, and why it still impacts our world today. Spend the entire station looking at the website.

4- STATION FOUR Reflecting: Anticipation Guide
Follow this link to the Holocaust Anticipation Guide. Fill out the entire form according to your opinions, morals, values, etc.

5- STATION FIVE Learning: The Holocaust
Log into www.brainpop.com
And log in using this user name and PW:

1- If you did not log in your Independent Reading Book on Friday-- please do it now on the INDEPENDENT READING BOOK Google Form.
2- Log into Newsela and join my classroom. You MUST log in Using GOOGLE. Do not type in your email address- you will not be able to join our Newsela Classroom.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- We'll talk about today's plan for the Eclipse.
2- After our discussion, we'll read our Eclipse article "Scientists plan to observe animals during eclipse to see how they react" in Newsela. Read at 1040L.
3- If you want to read as a group or individually that's fine. If you want to sit on the floor or in the loose chairs if they are free.
4- Once you are done reading- take the QUIZ. Remember you can access the article to answer the questions correctly. Your score is your GRADE. So take the quiz carefully.
5- After the quiz, answer the writing prompt as well. You can access the article at anytime during the quiz and the writing.
6- If you get done before the bell, read your IRB or finish work from last week.

REMINDERS:
1- You MUST have your book in school at all times. You will have an IRB (Independent Reading Book) in ALL your classes to read during "down" time and/or ETA. If you do not bring your book, you will need to either stop at the Library and borrow another book ORborrow one from my class library.
2- If you borrow from my class library- you need to sign out books with me- I have a clipboard where you list the book you take from my shelf. DO NOT take one out of my room without signing it out.
3- Anytime you borrow a book- log it into our INDEPENDENT READING BOOK Google Form.
