NEW ANTICIPATED ABSENCE FORM POLICY
Because of the number of Anticipated Absence Forms used by students on the hall, Team 8-3 has a new policy that students must follow in order for us to expedite the signing of each form.
1- Students must have the top completely filled out as per the instructions on the form.
2- Students must write in and list all of their classes for each period in the teacher signature grid.
3- Students must also write in their current grade from INow for each period in the teacher signature grid.
4- Once this is done, they can give it to their teacher for their signature.
5- Forms will not be signed “on demand” so students need to plan accordingly. We need time to sign the form in order to give students accurate information about what they will miss. Students can give the form to a teacher at the start of class or ETA and get it back at the end of class or ETA.
3rd 9 WEEKS LATE WORK/MAKE-UP WORK POLICY: Students will have only 2 weeks to complete any late or make-up work for the 3rd 9 Weeks. Once an assignment passes 2 weeks old without being turned in, it will become a permanent zero in INow. We usually place a .01 for the grade if something is missing and the student can still make it up. If they cannot make it up-- is listed as a zero. There will be NO late work accepted (besides make-up work because of an excused absence) in the 4th 9 weeks.
Students MUST have EARBUDS for classes so that they can listen to audio books, videos, and other educational audio information on their Chromebooks. Unless they have a special exemption, they CANNOT have headphones-- only earbuds. Each teacher on the 8-3 hall uses some form of audio format in our classes. Students need to get earbuds and have them in their backpacks or lockers for school use. This was on the 8th grade supply list this summer for this reason. If students continue to not bring them to school to use for class, they will get a D-Log Signing for not being prepared for class, a 1.07 offense: Repeated Incidents of Failure to Bring Materials to Class. This same rule goes for not having calculators and not having or not charging Chromebooks during 1st or 2nd period. Thank you for your support.
Team 8-3 is offering our students an option to attend Morning Study Hall to those who need to clear up .01 grades or extra time at school to complete assignments. Mr. Hudson will be on the Hall from 7:15 to 8:05, Monday through Friday. Please email Mr. Hudson if your child would like to come to attend Morning Study Hall.

REGARDING GRADES FOR TEAM 8-3:
Students’ grades are determined by all activities of the classroom. In accordance with our district policy, grades are based on the following percentages:
60% = Tests and Projects
30% = Classwork and Quizzes
10% = Homework
A ZERO (0) grade connotates that the student did not complete the assignment and received no credit.
A .01 grade connotates that the student:
All of the circumstances surrounding late and incomplete assignments, as well as the determination between giving partial or full credit for an assignment, will be determined by each teacher regarding the individual student and their circumstances. All Team 8-3 teachers will use INow to log in grades. Please give teachers time to grade larger projects and writing assignments before requesting grade updates and information.
Parents are asked to fill out the following Team 8-3 Parent Form to digitally sign that you have read the above material and you have given permission for your students to watch the following films. It may be that only a few of these films will be shown, but we are covering our bases for the LA and SS units, the Color Run day, after the 8th Grade field trip, and for Team building days.
POLICY FOR THE 2nd SEMESTER
Team 8-3 teachers will not accept late or missing work in the 10% or 30% category unless a student is absent and did not receive the assignment. Assignments given when students are present, yet due on a day they are absent-- still must be turned in on time-- even if they are not present in class. If a student is absent and they did not turn in an assignment, they are still able to for full credit and a .01 will be placed in INow. If they fail to turn in an assignment-- then a ZERO will be placed in INow and a note made. Students will always be allowed to make up tests, quizzes, essays, projects, and anything in the 60% category, but all other grades will be ZEROS if they are not turned in on time.
