1- You need your AGENDA, your Chromebook and your IRB--If yor ou do not have these things GO AND GET THEM. Do not wait until class starts to ask to go back to your locker or to get up to get your IRB. If you do that- your whole class will sit in silent lunch.
2- Sit with who you want. We are reading today- no chatting-- we are reading and meeting with me for a Reading Goal check.
BELL RINGER:
1- Log into Destiny and see if you need to renew your book. If you only have a few days to your due date, renew it online.
2- If it is not due-- WRITE DOWN WHEN IT IS DUE IN YOUR AGENDA. It will help you, hopefully to not let it get overdue.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- After my announcements-- you can read and meet with me for book conferences.
2- Please know your next reading goal for 11/2 is to finish your book. You can set up a post it note, but really, I'll be checking to see that you have finished your first book.
3- DO NOT REMOVE your "old" post it notes until you FINISH THE BOOK. Then put them into your journals.
4- READ--- make sure you are making progress on your books. You should not have your chromebooks open unless you are reading a book on your chromebook.
HOMEWORK:
1- Read your 2nd 9 Weeks IRB by 11/2.
2- IXL ASSIGNMENT #3 DUE 11/7
TODAY IS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25
2- Sit with who you want- you must have at least 3 to your group.
BELL RINGER:
1- One or two of you need to pass back all work in the red return work basket.
2- Please QUIETLY go out into the hall and take down your I Am Poem. It is yours, please do not throw them away. If you do not want them, give them to me.
3- GET ALL OF YOUR PAPERS FROM THE MAKE-UP WORK FOLDER- if something is DONE turn it into the TURN IN BOX. If you need to work on it- keep it with you on your table.
If you do not remove it from the folder-- IT IS NOT TURNED IN. Get it and FOLLOW DIRECTIONS.
4- Once you are done, you can move on into the class activity.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- Decide what you and your group need to finish-- if you need to finish ABC or Brainstorm sheets, get them from the Make up work files. If your sheets are done, turn them into the Turn In Box.

4- TURN IN YOUR JOURNAL TO THE BLACK COUNTER. If you put it back in your period basket-- IT IS NOT TURNED IN. It is due during this period. Get it done.

1- You need your JOURNAL, a pen or a pencil, your Chromebook and your IRB--If you do not have these things GO AND GET THEM. Do not wait until class starts to ask to go back to your locker or to get up to get your Journal. If you do that- your whole class will sit in silent lunch.

If your name is one the board- make sure you bring your Chromebook or IRB to do work during working lunch. This is the consequence for not turning in your essay. You will sit in Working Lunch EVEN IF YOU TURNED IN YOUR ESSAY THIS MORNING.

STATION ONE- RESPONSE- Kid President
1- Read Eight Ways We Can Change the World by Kid President
2- In your Journal, label your new page/or under your last entry- Station One: Kid President Response
3- Respond to Kid President pick one of the options presented in the article and explain how you are going to help Change the World based on his suggestion.
4- IF you finish early you can finish a station you left incomplete.
STATION TWO- READING- Communities in need.
1- Choose a Newsela from the Text Set Lend A Helping Hand.
2- Pick one article to read. Read it between the 1000-1100 Lexile (or something close to this).
3- Take the quiz.
4- On the clipboard- there is a class roster- next to your name-- WRITE the article title AND your quiz score.
5- IF you finish early you can finish a station you left incomplete.
STATION THREE- DISCUSSION- Analyzing who are the "Agents of Change" in our communities.
1- With your group- take an ABC sheet from the clipboard and together fill out each of the boxes.
2- You need to list in EACH BOX an "agent of change" in our community.
3- You can list a person's name, a position in our society, or even a group of people in each box according to the letter of the alphabet.
4- Complete the whole list together as a group. Put all of your names at the top-- if you leave off a name, they will not get a grade for this station. Turn it into the Turn In Box when your group is done.
5- IF you finish early you can finish a station you left incomplete.
STATION FOUR- WRITING prompt about who are "agents of change."
1- In your Journal, label your new page/or under your last entry- Station Four: Agents of Change.
2- Write a paragraph answering this question:
How do you think you could lend a helping hand to other and be an Agent of Change in our community and/or our world?
3- IF you finish early you can finish a station you left incomplete.
STATION FIVE- BRAINSTORM what you think needs to change in our world.
1- With your group- take one of the Brainstorming sheet and together fill out each of the boxes.
2- You need to list in EACH BOX a change you all think should happen or help our community.
3- You can do bullet points and/or explain changes you think should happen/help for each topic listed.
4- Have at least 3 items listed or a short paragraph written.
5- Complete the whole chart together as a group. Put all of your names at the top-- if you leave off a name, they will not get a grade for this station. Turn it into the Turn In Box when your group is done.

2-GET YOUR JOURNAL.
3- Sit with your writing groups from yesterday.
4- DO ALL OF YOUR BUSINESS DURING PASSING TIME- Stop coming to class to ask-- do it and then get settled-- get your things, get your drink of water, use the bathroom. If you come in after the bell you are tardy and you will sign the log. That's it. If you're late, you're late. Manage your time wisely.

1- COPY this week's Weekly Calendar into your Agendas- you should be writing down the SCHEDULE not just what is DUE- please get into the habit of writing it all down-- it will make sure you are prepared for class.

3- IN a short paragraph, write how you answer test questions on Scantron tests and Newsela tests. Explain how you answer the questions and what kinds of strategies you use.
