Class Procedures for Mrs. Burbridge
1- Turning in WORK. Most of your work will be turned in via our Google Classroom or in our classwork/classnotes Journal.
If we have any hard copy/paper assignments-- the class IN-BOX is the WHITE Box and is located on the black cabinet in the back of the classroom. This is the only place you will turn in hard copy/paperwork to Mrs. Burbridge.
The RED baskets in the cubbies in the black counter will hold all work that is graded and ready to return to you. This is the RETURN WORK BOXES-- Whatever you do, DO NOT turn in work to the RED boxes- I do not look in the box and only will put graded work in there. If you turn work in there-- it will not be graded or looked at.
2- Keep supply baskets in order- what you have is what you get.
In the back cabinet, there are tubs of colored pencils, markers, highlighters, sharpies, scissors, pencils, and pens. There are staplers and tape dispensers on the back counter as well. You are welcomed to use anything but remember-- once it is gone, it is gone. Share, treat things nicely, and the buckets will be refilled appropriately. When something is broken, dried up, or unusable, toss it. Let me know if something is broken. Please be respectful of what is in this classroom.
3- Clean up after yourself and others.
We have paper towels and Clorox wipes (just ask for them), and there are trash cans in the back of the room. Please use them appropriately. We do not play hoops with our trash or throw things across the room. Get up and throw things away. Everyone is responsible for keeping our room clean and tidy. You will stay in class until everything is cleaned up.
4- Listen for Mrs. B to say: "GO TO WORK." This is your cue to be able to get up and take care of your business.
5- You may not get up while Mrs. B or any other teacher or student is teaching or talking. If I am teaching, if I am TALKING, if another student is TALKING or PRESENTING- you MAY NOT get up and move around the room. Wait until we have group time or I have told you it's fine to move about the room. Be respectful of each other and your teacher.
5- Please plan on using the restroom during the passing periods.
If you come to class and drop off your books and then head to the restroom- and you come in after the bell- you are STILL TARDY. I cannot teach your books what you need to learn. Plan accordingly. There will be no using the restroom during the first 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes of class unless it is an absolute emergency. If you need to use the restroom- ASK FIRST and then take one of the passes hanging by the door.
6- You MUST have your Agenda with you when you ask to leave the hall. If you need to go to the Nurse, the Office, the Library-- anywhere off the hall-- fill out the Agenda yourself (see the Hall Pass section in your Agenda) and then bring it to me to have me sign it. If you are going to the Library-- you need to also list the reason why you are going to the Library.
7- If you are absent or miss part of class- check our Google classroom and the class website for all work and due dates and updates. On the website, you may have a link to use to complete work and you will have links to our Google Classroom for some classwork. The website is your lifeline. Please use the class website DAILY. REMEMBER- It is YOUR JOB to find out what you missed. I do not tell you what you missed-- you read/look it up/check Google Classroom-- and then ask for clarification.
8- My desk and the computer area are COMPLETELY OFF LIMITS- unless I ask you to help me with a slideshow presentation or ask you to get something from my desk. Do not touch anything on my desk or anything near my desktop computer- if you need something ask me. All supplies are housed in the black cabinet at the back of the room. Please do not take anything from my desk.
9- Please treat Mrs. Pope or any Substitute just like you treat me. She is a teacher just like I am and she will be more than happy to help you with your work and questions. She can also fill out the discipline log and reprimand you just like I can and will. She is here to teach you and help you. This also pertains to any substitutes who may come into our classroom.
10- Keep your hands to yourself. Do not touch others persons or their personal belongings. At all. There should be no explanation needed for this instruction in our class.
In general, please play nice with others, RESPECT everyone, THINK before you do anything, and remember all BUMPUS, BUCS, and Team 8-3 Guidelines are also in effect in my classroom. Last but not least- don't be afraid to speak in class, ask a question, or enjoy what we're doing-- this is a chance for you to learn in a safe and non-judgmental environment. Enjoy your last year before high school!
