1- You need your AGENDA, a pen or a pencil, your Chromebook, and your JOURNAL- If you do not have these things GO AND GET THEM. Sharpen pencils BEFORE class starts.
2-Sit with your partner at the same table you sat at on Wednesday. If you are a group of 2 you must merge with another group of 2. There should be 3 to 4 of you at each table. A group of 2 is too small.

1- Have your DRAFTS up on your Chromebooks or open in your journal.
2- Have your Journal to take notes during the workshop.
3- Take a 1/2 sheet from the clipboard and fill out ONE for EACH of the members of your group- they are the WRITERS. You are the RESPONDER- write your name on that line.
4- READ the directions for the group carefully. Mrs. Thomason will go over them and then you can start. Every person must read aloud and then complete an evaluation for each person.

1- You need your AGENDA, a pen or a pencil, your Chromebook, and your JOURNAL- If you do not have these things GO AND GET THEM. Sharpen pencils BEFORE class starts.
2- Find a partner and sit with your partner-- one person get a card to find a place to sit. You will sit with your partner on that table together.

2- After you finish updating your Journal- check Google Classroom to see if you need to finish any Station Work from yesterday.
3- You can have 10 minutes to finish Station Work from yesterday. If you are done you can work on IXL or read until everyone on your table is finished. Once everyone on your table is done, get a Green Sheet from the black counter and clip it to your clipboard.
4- Once we see Green Sheets or 10 minutes have passed-- we'll move onto the Class Activity. If you are still not done with Stations- it is homework due tomorrow.
CLASS ACTIVITY
1- Today we are going to discuss Narrative Essays. Please read the following essay to see a narrative sample:
2- After you are done reading-- write a short reflection in your journal on a new page. Date it 10/17 and Title: Narrative Sample Reflection
3- When we're done, we'll discuss narrative writing.
4- You are going to write Narratives-- you can either use your free write from Station Five yesterday in your Journal OR you can use your American Dream torch we did last week. I'll return them to you at this point.
5- You can spend the rest of the period drafting in your journal or on a google doc.
6- You must have a DRAFT to share and use in your workshop group tomorrow in class.

4- You will have 7 minutes per station. Set the TIMER for 7 minutes and reset at the end of each station.
5- If you finish a station before the timer goes off you can work on another station or finish one you did not get to finish.
6- PLEASE DO NOT WRITE ON THE NUMBER CARDS ON THE CLIPBOARDS. Stop it. It's not a piece of scratch paper.
7- After the last station, if there is time, finish any of the stations you did not complete. Then put your Journals away and you can work on IXL or read until the bell.

4- Take notes on the different types of writing in your journal. Name each type mentioned in the video, and take notes (bullet points) to describe the different writing styles.

1- Write the calendar in your Agenda once you sit down. Update any due dates.
2-Once you are done updating your Agenda get a Four 4 Note sheet from the black cabinet.
3- Write your name and period at the top.
4- Open Newsela and look for today's reading assignment- Opinion: Athletes as agents of change
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- READ the article at the 1130 L. If Newsela changes it for you- that is fine, you can read it at your adjusted level.
2- Complete the Four R Note sheet. You do not need to do the internal annotations in the article. I would read them so you can note what they are asking on your Four R Note sheet.
3- Take the QUIZ- it is worth 10 points total so you want to get your best score.
4- WRITE the prompt-- you can use what you put in your Four R Notes to help answer the question. YOU MUST WRITE A COMPLETE PARAGRAPH. One or two sentences are not enough.
5- If you do not finish- it is homework. Your Four R Notes, the QUIZ, and the WRITE assignment are all due by the end of the period. If you do not finish-- turn it in during ETA or tomorrow when you come to class.
