1- In your Journal on a new page (it can be next to your page from yesterday) date it today: 8/31/18
TITLE: Questions for Mrs. Burbridge
2- Then list 2-3 questions (or more) you'd like to ask about yesterday's presentation and discussion.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- We'll be looking at Mrs. Burbridge's slideshow about Native Hawaiians and life in Hawai'i.
2- In your Journal write down 25 new facts you learned or find interesting as we go through the slideshow.
3- When we are done, write down 3 impacts of colonization on Native Hawaiians.
4- Then write 3 impacts of immigration on Hawai'i.
HOMEWORK
1- If you did not finish your Newsela Writing or the Quiz from yesterday (Monday 8/27) make sure you complete it.
2- Keep reading your IRBs- you need to finish book one by Sept. 1.

Plan For Period 1, 5, and 8:
BELL RINGER:
1- Take a BHH Organizer from the back cabinet and write your name, period AND your BOOK TITLE at the top.
2- Then work on the section listed on the clipboard on your table.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- We'll be going through BHH Stations today. You'll have 8 minutes per station.
2- For each station- you will complete your section- 5 minutes, and then discuss what you wrote about with your table for 3 minutes.
3- After the 8 minutes, you must rotate to a new table and sit with different people.
4- Make sure you are at a station you have not done before.
5- At the end of the station work, turn in your sheets to the White Turn In Box.
6- If there is time you can read until the bell. It is not time to visit or just "wait" for the bell. Work to the bell. If you do not work to the bell, you will work in Working Lunch.

2- Sit in your seat from last week.
BELL RINGER:
1- Log into Newsela and check your binder.
2- You are reading the article: "Mythology and Science of Volcanoes" or "When lava flows, a Hawaiian goddess' name is invoked."
3- Listen to announcements first before you start reading.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- Make sure you READ the WRITE prompt before you start reading the article.
2- Read the article at the MAX Lexile.
3- Highlight details about Pele you think are significant in RED.
4- After reading the article, take the QUIZ. Be careful how you answer the questions.
5- Then complete the WRITE prompt.
6- When you are done, make sure you have your reading goal from Friday checked.
7- Make sure your "Tears of Autumn" questions are completed and turned into Google Classroom.
8- Then read your IRB until the bell rings.
