I will not do anything past 2020 for the history sections unless they were born after 2020, as many events are too recent. Website still incomplete.
Maryland, also known by her human name of Mary Harriet Washington is an outspoken and stubborn individual. Maryland will stick by her beliefs, good or bad, and isn't afraid to fight someone over them. She has a very strong sense of self and doesn't get self-conscious easily. She knows who she is and she is very comfortable with that.
Maryland is also an incredibly social person, and can be found hanging out with friends often. She is unique in her ability to form strong friendships in both country and human form, and doesn't mind revealing her human face to friends she trusts.
Maryland is also very prideful, in both her people and herself, and takes great pride in the things that make her Maryland. She wears her identity like a badge of honor and isn't easily shamed by others for it. However, due to this she is reluctant to admit to past mistakes and instead tries to ignore them or cover them up.

Maryland is four foot eight and physically twenty-eight. She has brown eyes and kinky dark brown hair that is often in braids down to her waist. Her braids also contain the colors of her flag because Maryland thinks it looks cool. She wears square glasses.
In country form, her face holds her flag, and the alternating pattern continues down her body. Her right hand holds the black and yellow part of her flag, and her left hand holds the white and red part.
In human form, she looks mixed, 48.7 POC-51.3 White, based on the 2020 census (this is also a very loose definition, but I am trying to give you a good baseline for "mixed"). The largest ethnic groups are African American, German, Irish, Latino, and Indian. Maryland is not white-passing, and despite being mixed, most people would just call her black.
She is very stocky and solid in appearance, with broad shoulders. She’s almost square-like in her body shape.
Maryland has the animal features of the bald eagle, the rockfish, and the horse. She has the wings of a bald eagle, the tail and ears of a horse, and scales on her arms from the rockfish. She gained her eagle wings in 1817 with the introduction of a seal with a bald eagle on it. She gained the rockfish trails in 1854 with the introduction of the seal with the rockfish on it. Her wingspan is 12.5 ft. She tends to keep her horse tail braided and interwoven with the same colors as her hair.
Maryland has looked much the same throughout history. However, the darkness of her skin has varied a lot, but she has always remained noticeably mixed or black. She has always had kinky hair, although, throughout history, she has done different things to try and make it less kinky. So, up until the late 1990s, her hair was artificially straightened or modified to look less kinky.
She has always had her horse features since her childhood as a colony, but she only gained eagle traits in 1817 and rockfish traits in 1854.
