Donate Life Design

For this piece of art, I was inspired by the prompt of creating something that encourages the consideration of organ and tissue donation. I wanted to create an appealing piece that catches the eye and draws you to what it is saying. I played on the word "donut" when using it to say "do not." I thought this would be fun to create with the bright and vivid colors of the glaze and the general appeal of yummy, glistening donuts. 

I used graphite pencils to sketch out a detailed outline and used colored pencils for the rest of the piece. I burnished with the colored pencils to achieve a glossier glaze and brighter highlights. I made sure to include shading and blending for a more realistic look. After making the physical piece, I digitally added the words. I tried to choose a fitting font that connected to the donuts and a color that would stand out against the art. 

I started brainstorming and chose this to dive into and research various photos. I collected multiple donut photos, sketched an intricate outline, and went from there! I wanted to capture the color and overall feeling of brightness in this piece with the use of colored pencils. I thought it would be fun to draw donuts because they are enticing and can draw eyes to the message conveyed. I also wanted to do a play on the word donut so there was a connection between the statement and art.
