Skier

7" x 3" 2.5"

Clay, acrylic paint, aluminum wire, and wool

With this art piece, I was guided by my inquiry or sustained investigation of how skiing impacts my life. I aimed to display that in a way with this sculpture. I really enjoy skiing and wanted to capture that with this. I love skiing off jumps and cliffs so I thought I could display that in this sculpture.

I created this with clay to form the shape. I used acrylic paint to cover the surface of the mountain and tree. I made the skier and tree out of wire and covered the tree with wool and painted over it.

I started out choosing this idea from my sketches and went from there. I wanted variety in my materials so I went with clay for the cliff, wire for the skier, and wool and wire for the tree. I also painted the mountain for a more realistic-looking cliff and painted the tree for a snow-covered look. I also created the wire skier with one piece of wire bent into the shape of a skier.
