Bob Ross REMIX

My final artwork was guided by the original piece I made from a Bob Ross Tutorial. I liked the idea of exploring a new art medium and used oil pastels to make this piece my own. I worked off the aspects in the original piece and deepened the colors and added more detail. I was inspired by the seasons and the colors of the leaves right now. I wanted to convey fall and also a glimpse of winter in the background with the mountains. 

The original piece was made with acrylic paint with palette knives and paint brushes. I used oil pastels to cover up the acrylic paint to create my new artwork. I wanted to try out a new art medium and thought oil pastel would be fun with its bright color and smooth texture. 

At first, I wasn't sure how I wanted to transform my Bob Ross painting. I decided to cover up the mountain and sky with white paint to start fresh in that area. I then chose to test out oil pastels and used this material to recreate the mountains, clouds, and sky. I also covered the trees and water with oil pastels to refine those places. I was able to shape this more into my style with this medium and had fun trying it out! I deepened the colors with the oil pastel-- and I plan to add more color and contrast to the front trees as well. I included more movement in my piece with the clouds and reinforced the reflection on the water.
