Hand Narrative
Bubbles
Colored pencils and gel pen
9" x 12"
With the requirement of two hands, I planned out a piece incorporating two patterned hands. I thought blowing bubbles would be a nice way to bring in the hands and also have fun with color. I chose to draw bubbles because I was inspired by recently blowing bubbles outside. I also thought the dark forest and foreground would complement the bubbles well. This was a fun opportunity to bring in contrast and selected colors.
I primarily used Prisma colored pencils for this piece. I also used a black gel pen for the patterned hands.
When I began with this project I had various ideas to go about it. I decided on this one because I had recently blown bubbles and I love the way light reflects and creates vibrant colors. I also chose to complete this piece with selected colors. I filled the page in black and white and colored the floating bubbles. This way the colored bubbles stand out against the dark landscape.
