Wire Sculpture

With this project, I was guided by the idea of creating a sculpture out of wire. This material is fun and different from most materials we use. Once I decided on the object, I tried to recreate a proportional and accurate representation made of annealed wire.

I used 18 gauge annealed wire for most of this sculpture and used 28 gauge annealed wire for my eyes, mouth, and signature. I used pliers to bend and connect the separate pieces.
This process began with choosing the object I must design my sculpture on. I chose a spherical stuffed globe and began shaping the wire to accurately represent the object. I hooked the wire together to connect the segments and gradually built the various layers. I like the way the face and hands add to this piece and its overall look.
