Relief Project

Mini heart relief

Idea generation sketches

Full Moon

14" x 9"

Cardboard, acrylic paint, glue

After creating my idea generation sketches I had a few ideas to work with. I went with the mountain scene and was guided by my sketch and mountains I've seen in the past. I chose this because I have always loved mountains and this project created a way to incorporate them in a different way. I liked how the mountains layered on top of each other to create depth and interest.

I made this relief sculpture with cardboard. I cut out shapes and sizes and using acrylic paint, I painted them in various colors. I then used wet glue to attach the pieces together to form the mountain scene.

I began brainstorming ideas for this project on a piece of paper and decided to go with the mountain landscape. From there I cut out mountain, moon, and hill silhouettes from cardboard. When painting, I went for a darker theme along with a full moon. With the darker features, I aimed to place the bright moon nestled in the mountain ridge.
