Soaring Falcon

9'' x 12''

Prisma Colored Pencil and Graphite Pencil

When I first looked at the prompt, "now I am...", I came up with the idea of a falcon. I thought it would be perfect because I go to Freeport and I am a Freeport falcon. So I sketched out a simple sketch of two falcons fighting in the air, and this inspired my final project. I used the idea of a falcon and what I think they look like and went from there. I used the color maroon to guide me and used it for the entirety of the falcon.

The materials I used for the project were Prisma colored pencils and graphite pencils. Throughout the whole sketchbook, I used a variety of materials to create this art. I used paint, colored pencils, markers, magazine paper, a black Sharpie, and a pen. I mixed the paint to create more color options and blended the colored pencils for a more refined look.

This process began with my answer to a prompt. Once I had sketched out the two falcons mid-air, I thought this could be an inspiration for my final product. I made sure I had the right colors and materials and got to work. I colored most of the falcon maroon while leaving white stripes and a yellow beak and feet.  Before completing the final piece, I had to fill out an entire sketchbook of art. Most of the pages that fill this sketchbook are based on the prompts, while others are from my own inspiration. I used a variety of materials and mediums and had fun creating this sketchbook!
