The Department’s Citizens’ Advocate (advocate) assists customers navigate through the DOR divisions. Customers who are demanding to speak to the Executive Director or Division Directors may be sent to the advocate for assistance. In addition, directors and managers may assign a customer to the advocate to be the main point of contact. All communication is sent to the advocate for response. This is used for customers who continuously contacting the Division and preventing others from being assisted. Customers can contact advocate by phone call, webform submission, walk-in, and letters. It is best to have the customers to complete the the webform. It is the fastest way to get a resolution.
The advocate also assists those who would like to share a commendation for an employee or office. Customer can complete the Customer Complaint/ Compliment form on the advocate website. Compliments will be shared with the Executive Director’s Office and may be used for RevEnews.
Advocate contact information is located on DOR’s main website and in the footer of the Taxation, Enforcement and Motor Vehicle websites. Also, it is easily found with an internet search for DOR contact information. Occasionally it is published on social media.

The advocate works with a subject matter expert within the appropriate division to offer resolutions or statutory limitations. Submit a web form to request assistance with any of the divisions.
Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
Contact your county DMV with questions about vehicle registration, vehicle titles, year/month tabs (stickers) and license plates.

Business Tax Concern Visit the Colorado Secretary of State's website for trade name or business license information
Individual Tax Concern Visit Where's My Refund for tax refund status
Report Tax Fraud (you will be redirected to the Taxation Division website)
Enforcement Division includes Auto Industry, Gaming, Liquor/Tobacco Enforcement, Marijuana Enforcement and Racing.
Contact the local police or sheriff's office with concerns regarding law enforcement.
