 About the Marijuana Enforcement Division                 

Who we are:

• The Executive Director for the Department of Revenue is the State Licensing Authority for the regulation of the manufacture, distribution, and sale of all marijuana or marijuana-infused products

What we do:

• The MED’s licensing operations team provides both in-person and online licensing services to business owners and employees.

• The MED conducts background, administrative, financial and criminal investigations of applicants and licensees.

• The MED coordinates with local licensing authorities.

• The MED's investigations team conducts field inspections, investigations and outreach to verify and support compliance with state laws and regulations. 

• The MED also partners with other local law enforcement agencies to investigation non-compliant activity.

• The Testing and Research team, responsible for monitoring product safety risks, conducting data analytics and reporting, and gathering data for Health and Safety Advisories (HSA).

• The Policy team is responsible for managing legislative and rulemaking activities and stakeholder engagement.

• The MED maintains marijuana inventory tracking system of regulated industry (Metrc®)

• The MED provides educational services to licensees and the public.
