PTC and Lehaha Institute partner for Lesotho workshop

In August 2018 Dr Peter Tobin, CGEIT, PMP, founder of PTC, facilitated two days of IT Governance and Management workshops in partnership with Lehaha Institute in Maseru, Lesotho. The first day was scheduled to meet the needs of members of the Board and Board Committees and Executive management team in one of the largest companies in their sector in the Mountain Kingdom. The second day extended the coverage to  management and senior professionals and their role in effective IT Governance and Management practices. "There was an excellent level of participation in both workshops" comments Mr Andrew Mosae of Lehaha Institute, "and we look forward to working with Dr Tobin again in this and other areas of capacity building for organisations in Lesotho". "I was impressed by the level of knowledge and experience displayed by the people I worked with and am confident that this important workshop will result in significant benefits for the company and its stakeholders" adds Dr Tobin.

PTC addresses international finance managers conference on IT Governance

In early September 2018 Dr Peter Tobin, founder of PTC, addressed a conference of finance managers drawn from Europe, the Middle East and Africa on the subject of IT Governance. "My client, a company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), has committed to full compliance with the King IV Code of Governance, both as a leading governance commitment as well as supporting the listing requirements of the JSE" comments Dr Tobin. The conference presentation reviewed the principle and practices for Governance of Technology & Information in the King IV code as well as other global frameworks and models for effective IT Governance such as ISO38500 and COBIT 5®  

PTC assists JSE-listed company with POPI Act compliance

Through a partnership with Statucor PTC has engaged with a company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange for their POPI Act compliance needs. Statucor (Pty) Ltd was incorporated in 1989 and has since become the most comprehensive national provider of corporate stewardship services and has already worked with PTC on previous client engagements as well as running a client information workshop on the POPI Act (POPIA) as long ago as 2014. "Many organisations are busy preparing themselves for POPIA compliance as part of their broader commitment to good governance, risk and compliance practices" says Dr Tobin, who is Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) by ISACA and a member of the International Association of Privcy Professionals.

PTC partners with EGASA

Dr Peter Tobin, founder of PTC, facilitated a workshop on IT Governance on behalf of EGASA in August 2018 in Kempton Park, South Africa. "The delegates were preparing to write their professional certification  exam for CGEIT from ISACA" explains Dr Tobin. Dr Tobin has himself been certified CGEIT since 2014 and has been continuously re-certified to 2021.

PTC founder now IAPP member

In recognition of the growing importance of the volume of data privacy and protection projects undertaken by PTC, the founding director Dr Peter Tobin has recently joined the International Association of Privacy Professionals. This is the fourth professional body to which Dr Tobin subscribes along with his Professional Project Management certification (valid to 2020) from PMI in the USA, ISACA CGEIT (valid to 2021) and the PMIITPSA (certification valid to 2019). 

PTC supports IT Governance roll-out at industrial company

One of South Africa's largest JSE-listed companies has a policy of improving IT Governance in all its subsidiaries. so it was that the executive team of one of those subsidiaries came to choose PTC to assist the organisation in its journey towards full IT Governance implementation. PTC provided specialist products and services over a period of several months to support the client, who are now happy to act as a reference for the quality of work completed by PTC.

PTC partners with Grant Thornton in IT Governance and POPI Act project

When one of the State Owned Enterprises in South Africa issued a tender for assistance with their efforts to comply with the POPI Act as well as to implement effective IT Governance, Grant Thornton and PTC joined forces with long-term partner of PTC, IACT-Africa, to provide a comprehensive solution to the client's needs. "Such a wide-ranging project required a diverse set of skills so the combination of the knowledge, skills and experience of Grant Thornton, IACT-Africa and PTC was an ideal fit" says Dr Peter Tobin, founder of PTC. 

PTC partners with BDO for six month EU GDPR compliance project

One of BDO South Africa's clients listed on both the Johannesburg and New York Stock Exchanges was in need of a compliance project to prepare for the EU GDPR. PTC was chosen as the strategic partner of BDO to provide subject matter expertise, knowledge and skills to support the project. The project was delivered on time and on budget and provided the client with a high level of satisfaction for the products and services provided. 

SADC-DFRC and PTC partner for IT Governance workshop

For over ten years the SADC Development Finance Resource Centre has been in partnership with PTC in delivering capacity building workshops across the SADC region. "I have had the pleasure of working with the SADC-DFRC team in Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana and Tanzania as well as South Africa in the field of Project Management and Monitoring and Evaluation" says Dr Tobin, "so it was a pleasure to broaden the range of topics I have been asked to address to include one of my other passions, ICT Governance & Management", The four day workshop had an in-depth focus on the use of COBIT 5 and addressed delegates from Angola and Botswana as well as host country Namibia.

African Corporate Governance Conference addressed by PTC

Dr Peter Tobin, founding director of PTC, is well known as a speaker and facilitator at conferences and workshops across the SADC region. It therefore came as no surprise for Dr Tobin to be invited to talk on IT Governance to an audience drawn from over half a dozen SADC member states as well as a significant contingent from the public and private sector from within South Africa.
