Dr Peter Tobin of PTC has offered his support to develop a young graduate intern who is new to the world of work.
"There are many young people who have excellent tertiary qualifications and yet struggle to find employment in the formal sector. The reason often given by potential employers is the lack of previous work experience. This intern development initiative is intended to overcome this obstacle" says Dr Tobin. This internship initiative is a joint venture with Mr Markus Moses of Ndawo Consulting (www.ndawo.co.za ). "Peter's willingness to provide guidance and support to David is very much appreciated. By giving the valuable gift of his time Peter has made a generous and valuable contribution to David's development" observes Markus Moses. "The graduate intern has been provided with a series of research projects which are a natural extension to his academic skills set, but add significantly in term of the orientation to what potential future employers are looking for" adds Dr Tobin. Specific skills being developed include: professional report writing; use of mind mapping software; use of project scheduling software; use of spreadsheet data and graphing functionality; use of online survey tools; presentation and communication skills; time management and recording. "One of the key contributions we can make to the development of South African society is the development of its youth, and this is particularly worth reflecting on as June is "Youth Month" states Dr Tobin. "This internship experience is a great opportunity for me" says Mr David Solo. "I would like to thank Ndawo Consulting and in particular Mr Markus Moses and his partner Dr Peter Tobin of PTC for giving me the chance to learn new skills and to deliver on the commitments which I have made as an intern trainee. I am confident that the skills and experience acquired will help me in the future". Pictured below is Mr David Solo.
