Peter Tobin Consultancy (PTC) is a management consulting practice that was established in 1994. Over the past thirty years PTC has offered a range of services based on World Class methods, tools, frameworks and standards, to assist individuals, teams and organisations to improve their performance in a number of selected focus areas.

BA (Hons), MBA, DPhil, PMP
After over twenty years spent in a number of marketing and sales positions in both England and South Africa Dr Tobin established a career as an academic and is now recognised through his consulting work and conference presentations. He was a teaching and research academic at three leading South African business schools from 1999 to 2012 and during that time delivered his workshops and consulting advice widely across South Africa as well as in Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kingdoms of Eswatini and Lesotho, Ivory Coast, Mauritius, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, United Arab Emirates, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Dr Tobin is a graduate of four universities, gaining his first degree at the University of York (England), following this with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Studies at the University of East London (England). He also holds the prestigious MBA awarded by Henley Business School, graduating top of his class. He later completed his Doctorate in the field of Knowledge Management at the University of Pretoria, conducting research into the use of stories and storytelling as tools for knowledge sharing in organisations.
Whilst with IBM (SA) Dr Tobin successfully qualified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) ® with the US-based Project Management Institute ® in 1998. He has maintained his PMP ® status, having already recertified to 2026.
In 2004 Dr Tobin became one of a small number of South African PMP® holders to complete the challenging Foundation and Practitioner Examinations of the UK-based Prince2 methodology. He is also an active member of the Johannesburg branch of ISACA the professional body for those interested in all aspects of IT Governance, as well as being a member of the international ISACA body. In December 2013 Dr Tobin successfully sat and passed the ISACA certification examination "Certified in the Governance of Enterprise Information Technology (CGEIT)" and in March 2014 his application for formal full certification was approved. He qualified for recertification as "CGEIT" to 2024. Dr Tobin has also become a "Certified Information Privacy Manager" (2019 -2023) with The International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Peter speaks fluent business-level French and has conducted workshops entirely in French in South Africa and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
