PTC partners with IACT Africa, Edgetec and IBM for POPI event

With heightened awareness globally of the importance of data privacy, and the April 2014 partial commencement of the POPI Act and its focus on the Protection of Personal Information, the time seemed right for a combined effort to offer advice and guidance to customers of Edgetec and IBM South Africa. PTC, in partnership with IACT Africa, its strategic partner for POPI Act compliance services , presented to a packed breakfast meeting at Fairlawns Boutique Hotel and Spa. The event theme was "Smarter Data Privacy" and the first speaker was Pierre Fouche of IBM SA, who discussed the results of an IBM global survey on "C-suite" views of the future environment for business. Dr Peter Tobin, founder of PTC, then presented "Smarter Data Privacy & POPI: the road ahead". This included a dramatic scene where delegates were invited to stand and take the "POPI Pledge" which saw the delegates commit to being "Proudly Pro POPI" not just because they must comply but because they see the value of compliance in their relations with all their stakeholders.
