The Ubuntu Community Chest, based in Kwa-Zulu Natal, recently collaborated with PTC to deliver a Strategic Risk Assessment workshop to their not for profit and community welfare stakeholders. During two days over one hundred participants learned about international best practice in risk management aimed specifically at the charities sector. The basis for the content, tailored for South African needs, was the material developed by the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) in England. "The IRM were so interested in the use of their material in South Africa they created a blog post authored by myself about the workshops" says Dr Peter Tobin, facilitator of the workshops. You can access the IRM blog post if you click here. "We were also fortunate one of the days to be able to discuss with Jenni McLeod of Downes Murray International (DMI), South Africa's leading fundraising consultancy, a case study about how DMI tackled one aspect of risk management in their business" adds Dr Tobin. The two workshops were supported by funding from the National Lotteries Commission.
