A well-attended event held in Port Elizabeth on Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act compliance in partnership with IACT-Africa and Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber in February 2015, saw media coverage on both Kingfisher FM community radio and an article published in The Herald (SA's oldest newspaper) concerning the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act. As a result, Dr Peter Tobin of PTC was invited to contribute his views to an article written by Xolisa Phillip in the "Fair and Square" column of the Weekend Post newspaper which appeared in late February, 2015. The full text of the article can be found in the attached file.
Jeremy Barton, Eastern Cape Agent for IACT-Africa and long-term associate of Dr Peter Tobin believes the growing Eastern Cape media coverage can only be positive in terms of helping raise awareness levels of the implications of the POPI Act. "It has been a pleasure to work with Peter, whose ability to generate enthusiasm for POPI Act compliance is refreshing, given some of the negative and burdensome connotations so often associated with legal compliance issues. In fact I am confident that our strategic partnership will see organisations here in the Eastern Cape as diverse as schools, golf and residential estates, motor dealerships and financial services firms work with PTC and IACT-Africa in the coming months" says Jeremy, "and the whole field of POPI Act compliance neatly complements the existing business coaching services my company and I already offer".
