What a desperate novel

From William Somerset Maugham through Margaret Mitchell to Tom Wolfe —there's a clear line of writing here: intense, cynical, verbose, deeply psychological and relentlessly harsh in regard to their characters. Hardcore psycho, one could say.

Gone with the Wind is brilliant, such a masterpiece, so well-thought and developed, complex and timeless, wise to the point of painful.
