There's a young girl in her sixteens or seventeens who brings her son to class where I work. That's a slightly different relationship she has with him, compared to that of ordinary mothers —more uncertain maybe, less confident, a bit frailer; and at the same time, with an added degree of compromise, sacrifice, and unexpected love.
