In an attempt to better motivate and meet the goals of all students, we have put together a new student agreement. The purpose of this agreement is to help encourage all of us to stay focused and accountable as we work towards achieving our individual goals in school.
The new agreement is required.
Students that do not complete and maintain the requirements cannot continue in the eLearn Program.
What are the new requirements?
3 hours of online coursework per week
10-minute phone conference every 2 weeks
How can I complete the hourly requirement?
There are many ways! You can spend 3 hours per week just on Khan Academy if you want. And remember, there are also individual lessons and units on various reading and writing topics.
Why does it need to be at least 3 hours?
In order to stay in good standing, all students need to complete 60 hours within 6 months in order to post-test. If you can complete 3 hours per week, it will ensure that you meet the 60 hour requirement once every few months!
Why is 60 hours important?
The State of Louisiana requires all adult education students to complete benchmark testing every 60 hours. This is actually a good thing, because post-testing allows you to measure your progress and determine HiSET readiness.
What happens if I don't complete 3 hours per week?
That depends; if you miss 1 week, that's okay. We all get busy sometimes and aren't able to meet our individual goals. The requirements are as follows:
If you miss 1 week, you will be placed on academic probation;
If you miss 2 weeks, you will be placed on hold and cannot continue in the online course until you've participated in a phone conference;
If you miss 3 weeks, you will be ineligible to continue with the eLearn Program.
What happens if I'm dropped from the program?
You will have a few options. You can re-register for the on-campus program. Remember, the on-campus program is offered at many convenient locations, and with classes in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings, you can probably find a schedule that is convenient for you. And many students find that they enjoy being back in a classroom.

You can also try to re-register for the online classes. But remember, the online classes are popular and we can't guarantee that space will be available for all students if you register again. That's why it's best to take full advantage of this opportunity while you are still enrolled!

When does the new agreement begin?
The agreement below is due by 9pm on Friday, March 13th. The first week begins the next day on Saturday, March 14th.
