Building a Study Schedule
"Not if... but when?"
Studying online is convenient because we can do it anywhere and anytime. But it can also be challenging if we don't manage our time well.
The purpose of this activity is to build a weekly study schedule that we can use to manage our time!
This assignment is due by 9pm on Monday, October 19th.
Start Here - GoalsEach lesson will start with the goals. It's always a good idea to start with the end in mind, so we know what we are working towards accomplishing. You can also use this as a checklist to measure your learning. In other words, by the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
Build a weekly study schedule using Google Calendar
Share your calendar with your coach using Google sharing features

Next, check out the video introduction in PART 1.
Part 1 - Watch a video introduction to Google Calendar
Most assignments will include video introductions with tips and guides on how to be successful. Remember, this is a YouTube video, so you can pause, rewind, and rewatch as much as you want as you figure out how to do the activity!
Next, let's learn more about Google Calendar in PART 2.
Part 2 - Why is Google Calendar great?Google Calendar is a free digital calendar service available on the web (calendar.google.com) and as a mobile app on iOS and Android devices. Google Calendar is great because:
It's free!
It's web-based, meaning you can access and update it on a computer or mobile devices, and everything will auto-save and stay synced
You can set notifications to get email, text, and smartphone reminders about upcoming events
It's collaborative, meaning you can share your calendar with friends, family, teachers, and anyone else!
You can create multiple calendars and change colors (like 1 for work, 1 for family, and 1 for school)
Tip: Links are shared to offer more information about each topic; so, check out the links above for quick access to free mobile apps and guides on how to use notifications and sharing features!
Last, lets build our weekly study schedule in PART 3.
Part 3 - Building a study schedule
Instead of getting online "when you feel like it" or "as much as possible," let's build a study schedule for when we will get online. That way, we can get into a consistent routine, just like a work or class schedule. To get started:
Visit calendar.google.com (and sign-in if needed)
Block out the times each week for:
Work: When are your scheduled shifts?
Family: When do you need to be around for your kids and other family members?
School: When will you get online to study?
When you finish, share your calendar with your coach!
Part 4 - Turning in your assignment
First, let's make sure you completed everything correctly. You can check off the items that you've completed:
Created a calendar using Google Calendar
Added all my work shifts
Added my family responsibilities
Planned at least 3 hours of online studying per week
Set notifications to remind me of coaching and study sessions!
Shared it with your eLearn coach!
