Good Evening, eLearn Students!
The holidays are fast approaching, and I wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday season. As far as what you will be responsible for over the break, t's up to you to figure out how much time you want to study over the next few weeks. I encourage everyone to remain active and consistent on Khan Academy, even if it's just for 1-2 hours per week (staying in a good routine is key to being successful in school).
For those of you that want to use the next few weeks to study, there are plenty of options below for new and existing courses! Included in this digest, you will find information about:
The Career Research Project
An opportunity to revisit "The Lottery" course
A reminder about our Google+ Community
The Career Research Project
Did you know that 1 in 4 college graduates aren't able to find a job? And did you also know that there are hundreds of thousands of unfilled jobs across America? Why are college graduates unable to find work, and why are companies unable to find new employees?
What career do you plan to pursue after you earn a high school equivalency diploma? With so many degree options available, and with an economy that's changing everyday, it's important to plan out your next steps so you can take full advantage of all educational and career opportunities available (and so you can find a job that interests you and will help you meet your personal and professional goals)!
And that brings us to the Career Research Project, which will challenge you to use the internet to research different career options, and to present your findings to fellow eLearn students!
This project can be worked on slowly over the next few weeks - it will ultimately be due by 9pm on Sunday, January 11th. So check out this page to get started - and remember, it will take about 6-8 hours to complete, so take your time and ask questions along the way!
Revisiting "The Lottery"
For those of you that missed our first unit on the short story, "The Lottery," which focused on building reading, writing, and social studies skills, there's still time to go back and complete the 3-module course.
Click here to get started. You can work through the modules on your own pace over the next few weeks!
eLearn Google+ Community
If you haven't joined yet, check out our eLearn Google+ Community, which is a social network that can be used to chat with fellow students, share resources, ask questions, and connect with each other. There are 23 of us already active in the community, and it's only growing! And it will only get stronger as more of us enter the community and join the conversation!
Click here to access our Google+ eLearn Community!
As always, let us know if you've got any questions, and good luck over the next few weeks!
~Joey
