Good Morning, everyone!
Are you looking for an online program, just like Khan Academy, to help you work on reading comprehension and critical thinking? If so, check out the details below for a new program that will help you prepare for the Reading, Social Studies, and Science sections of the HISET.
There's also a new coaching tip from our Success Coach, Shandi Anderson, who's here to talk about how making lists can help you learn how to prioritize and accomplish more things during your busy day.
And lasltly, I've heard from so
Creating Lists
Are you a visual learner? Do you remember more of what you see then what you hear? If so, you would probably benefit from making a daily "to-do" list. Writing down a list helps prioritize things that need to get done. For instance, in the morning you make a list and by the afternoon you realize that you do not have time for the remaining items. You must then figure out what's most important for you to finish on that day. #prioritize.
Try and make 30 minutes of working towards the HiSET a priority every day. The day you get that diploma will be one of the biggest check marks off your "to-do" list.
And check out Google Keep! It's a free, online program for making lists, and it's included with you Gmail account (there are even Android apps, too!). And just like your email, it will be accessible from everywhere you go!
Khan Academy for Reading Practice
Many of you have asked about opportunities to practice reading in the same way that you practice math (a website like Khan Academy). And I'm happy to announce that the chance is now here.
Introducing Read Theory, a free program that will build a unique course for each student. And for just 1-2 hours per week, you can start working on the reading skills needed to pass the Reading, Social Studies, Science, and even Math sections. As one eLearn student that just passed the HiSET says::
"Read Theory really helped me to know exactly what to look for when I read a passage. It helped me get ready for all the types of questions I saw on the Social Studies, Science, Reading, and even with breaking down Math word problems!"
