Good Morning, eLearn Students!
How many of you have gotten started with reading something everyday for at least 1/2 hour? Reading regularly is the single best thing you can do to prepare for the HiSET! Find something that's interesting as reading should be a relaxing and enjoyable experience!
Today's article is focused on the history of train service (Amtrak) in America. Did you know that in Japan, high-speed trains can go up to 300 mph (bullet trains are called the Shinkansen in Japanese)? I've ridden them before and it feels entirely like you are entering the future! They are blazing fest, on-time (to the second), and they glide along the tracks as the Japanese countryside flys by!
What if we had bullet trains in America? Currently, the fastest trains only go about 60 mph. Why is that? Why does the rest of the world experience modern, fast train service while America lags behind? What if we could take a train to Atlanta or Houston and it would only take a couple hours?
To learn more about the history and potential future of train service in America, check out this article. And if you want to receive credit for reading it:

And again, try reading something everyday! It's the single best thing you can do to get ready for the HiSET.
