Good Afternoon, eLearn Students,
For now, I wanted to send information about the Accelerated Career Education (ACE) Program. As discussed during orientation, the ACE Program offers a co-enrollment opportunity for students to begin taking college courses and earning credit while finishing earning a high school equivalency. Currently, the ACE Program is offering pathways for students interested in the following career clusters:
Healthcare: Students will take foundational courses that lead to earning first-aid and CPR certifications, while preparing them for a variety of educational and career pathways including nursing, pharmacy technicians, EMRs, and more. The Healthcare pathway is designed for students seeking a career somewhere in the healthcare industry.
Information Technology (IT): Students will take foundational courses that lead to earning an IC3 certification while preparing them for a variety of educational and career pathways including health information technology, cyber security, and advanced manufacturing. The IT pathway is designed for students interested in a career working with computers.
Technical Trades: Students will take foundational courses that lead to earning the NCCER Certification. The Technical Trades pathway is designed for students interested in careers in welding, electrical work, HVAC, and more.
Click here to learn more about the current pathways offered in the ACE Program.
Program Design: All students in the ACE Program will take 2-3 courses per semester for 2 semesters, which will lead to a total of 12 earned credits when the program is completed. And, one of the major benefits of the program is that students that are accepted will receive a scholarship that covers the costs of tuition and books (students will only be required to pay a small college application fee).
Application Process: In order to participate in the program, students need to apply and be accepted into the program. The application process consists of an online application (including a letter of support from a friend, family members, teacher, employer, etc.), followed by an interview.
The application deadline for the fall semester (with classes beginning in late-August) is this Friday, July 11th. Click here to access the online application. All classes are held on either the City Park or Jefferson campuses.
eLearn Relationship: Applying to and participating in the ACE Program is optional. Students can choose to ignore this email. Those that choose to apply, If accepted, can elect to continue participating in the eLearn Program if desired.
I recommend that each of you take the time to read through the linked websites above, and consider applying to participate for the fall semester. If you want to just stay focused on earning your high school equivalency for now, you can choose to apply for the Spring Semester (applications will be due in November).
Please feel free to respond with any questions or comments, and good luck to those of you that choose to apply!
