The purpose of the Computer Literacy Project is simple:
Your goal is to teach yourself something that can be learned on the internet!
Why?
Well, the internet is an incredibly powerful learning resource! And, if you can understand how to use the internet effectively, you can transform your learning experience. You, the student, can become your own teacher.
So, for this project, please choose 1 new thing to teach yourself. It can be anything! For example, you could teach yourself how to cook a new meal. Or, you could teach yourself how to change oil. Or how about how to speak Spanish (OK, try to choose something that you can learn within a few weeks). Most importantly, you must choose something that you don't currently know how to do.
Once you figure out what you want to learn, start searching around on www.google.com. You might be surprised at how many websites are dedicated to helping teaching people how to do stuff.
The ultimate goal is for you to document, or track, your progress as you learn something, and then to share your experience through any of the following:
A blog or website that you build
A PowerPoint slideshow presentation that you create
A Microsoft Word written journal
A photo journal
An animated story/graphic novel
A podcast
Learning something new and tracking you progress with photos and journal entries will allow you to practice your english, reading, writing, and computer skills all at the same time!
So for now, spend some time figuring out what you want to learn (and how you want to share your experience). When you are ready, complete the form below to submit a project idea!
