About Angelle
My name is Angelle and I am originally from New Orleans, though I have lived in other parts of the U.S. and Asia.
I started working in education in 2008 teaching art with an after-school art program at an elementary school in San Diego. The kids taught me more about discipline and structure than anything else (not what you expect in an art class). In 2009, I landed the opportunity to teach ESL at an elementary school in Busan, South Korea. The following year, I continued teaching ESL in Yokohama, Japan for a middle and senior high school. Living and working overseas is exciting and overwhelming (like any new adventure).
Homesickness got the best of me and I moved to Texas to complete a Special Education teacher certification in Austin. After moving back to New Orleans, I began working with higher education (local colleges and universities) and loved interacting with students. In various positions, I was able to assist students with starting their college careers off on the right foot.
In college I was not a model student and understand the importance of starting fresh and with a plan (and a backup plan). A couple of years ago I earned my masters in Adult Education from Northwestern State. If my professors from my first years in college were to talk to my professors from my last few years in college, what they would say?! You would think they were talking about different people. I think my failures and mistakes have contributed to my interest in supporting others.
Mostly, I believe in pursuing your goals and maintaining a high quality of life.
