Time Capsuls

The subject of these creations is to reflect back later on in the year and see how much I have improved or changed by the the style of my art. I made this art with just a graphite pencil to perfect any fine lines, and incase I made a mistake, which I made quite a few, I could erase them, and make it better. I didn't use any colored pencil, cause I was afraid that adding color might ruin how the drawing already looked. I was given specific directions on what I had to draw. Specific elements and principles I used was, balance, in the "corner of a room" drawing, I drew to much shadow on the left wall, so I added shadow on the left. In the "self portrait" I made sure the drawing was exactly in the center, and for the "still object" drawing, it is a little off center, so I didn't use balance in that drawing.

Composition rules, and techniques I used in my drawing are, rule of thirds in my "still object" drawing I know I used this because the drawing is not quite centered, the main subject of the drawing is taking up two thirds of the paper, and it still looks nice. For my "self portrait" drawing, my drawing looked a lot better adding the shoulders in on the bottom so it wasn't just a floating head. In the" still drawing" the drawing looked a lot better when I filled in the blank space by drawing the bottoms of the walls of skating right behind it. In the "corner of the room" drawing, I shaded a little bit to much on the left, so I added a shadow on the right to balance everything out and fill in a little white space.

I don't think that there is a meaning or story really behind my artwork, except the "still object." The meaning behind this is skating. I love to figure skate, I take lessons for it, and I love it. That is the meaning, and why I drew it. The "corner of the room" drawing doesn't relate to myself. My "self portrait" does, because it's a drawing of me, and my "still object" drawing does because I love to figure skate. If I had more time, I would have made my left eyeglass smaller on my "self portrait," I would have made the bottom of the ice rink walls more detailed and distinct in my "still object" drawing, and I would have shaded a little better if I could have in my "corner of the room" drawing.
