The subject of my art is a hand with the rubber band twisted on my pointer, middle, and ring finger. I made this art by, looking at my hand while it was positioned with a rubber band, and drawing it as I saw it. I chose to create a part of the specific art work, I chose to positioned my hand the way I wanted to, and position the band on my hand as I wanted. I didn't chose to draw a hand with a rubber band. I chose this particular gesture, and the way I held the rubber band because i like the meaning behind the gesture. Element and principles I used are, some type of balance, (informal balance) because it is in the "2/3" section of the three sections. And line, used this by filling in the white space of the inside of the hand with the hand lines.
A composition rule I used the "rule of thirds," by drawing the hand a little off center, in the "2/3" section, but it still looks presentable. My hand looked a little bare, so I added the lines, and nails in my hand.
The meaning behind this artwork is, "hang loose," this particular hand gesture, means "hang loose," in Hawaii. But you can use it anywhere. I think it's a really cool sign, and It just means to be calm, and less stress with yourself, and the environment around you, and to just hang loose. My project relates to my life because, I try to be calm and "hang loose" but with school, it is extremely hard because I can get stressed very easily. Something specific that bothers me in this artwork, is how I proportioned my pointer, middle, and ring finger with my hand. It looks a little off, and a little too high up.
