Sustained Investigation #19

Ally

8" x 11"

The story behind this piece is about my friend Ally going through quarantine. This project relates to my life because Corona is very relative right not and very present in all of our lives. It is making everybody nuts and depressed at the same time. But we are almost there.

At first I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. So I thought of all of the portraits I done, and they are all mostly realistic. So I decided to branch out more and go digital with photography since I haven't done that before. I got a picture that I had taken of my friend and I thought she looked very free and her worried were gone. So I decided to use this picture. I added text above her and made two different colors so that it would pop out more. I also added some butterflies because when ever I think of free I think of butterflies and I chose the words, "almost free," because it is true. I feel like we are so close to freedom from the corona virus and school and I am ready to celebrate summer.

I made this project with the objective in mind that I wanted to focus on color and contrast to answer my inquiry question. I would say that I achieved this goal but not to the extent that I really wanted to. My portrait includes movement with her stance and her hands and metaphorically with the words in the sky with the objective of freedom. The portrait also includes grouping with the butterflies.
