The subject of my creation is a wave with the cut out letters from a magazine that say, "Be shore to brighten someone's day with organ and tissue donation." This work was made with magazine cutouts and acrylic paint for the background. I made this artwork by drawing out the wave in a 4H pencil and then filling in some of the wave. I then painted the background blue and stuck the letters down. After that, I filled the rest of the wave out with the rest of the magazine clippings. I chose to create this specific artwork because I thought it would be different than what someone else might see. Specific elements and principles I used in my artwork was, balance by placing the words on the right of the artwork and the wave on the left balancing it out. I also used shape as you can see with the big wave on the left.
Sone composition rules and techniques I used in my artwork were grouping with the words and the wave, and also rule of thirds with the dark part of the wave on the very left, the end of the wave and lighter part of the wave, and on the right the words fill up the 3/3 section. My project evolved from the beginning when I was going to do a tree with a heart in the middle and say, "Give the gift of life." But then someone else was doing it as well so I changed my mind.
The meaning of my artwork is to go with flow of life and help others along the way as shown with the wave. This can relate to my life because I LOVE the ocean which was one of the reasons I did this project and also I love to help others. I think if I could change anything about this artwork, it would be the background. If I make the same exact project again, I would make the background little more solid because you can see the paper in some parts of the background. But other than that, I am pretty happy with this piece.
