The subject of my creation is the planets in order including pluto but with different designs. My artwork was made by tracing out 9 circles from a stencil and a 2H pencil, then I painted the background with multiple layers, I then used water color to create the tie-dye planet and part of the dark and light pink planet, and I used acrylic paint for the seafoam green planet, the blue ball planet, and the doughnut planet. I took a drop of yellow ink for the tiny yellow planet, and I used tiny yellow and the turquoise planet, finally I then took a white oil paint marker and a tiny brush to paint the tiny stars in the background. I chose to create this specific artwork because I've always wanted to create an art project of the lining of the planets, so that is exactly what I did.
Some composition rules and techniques I showcased in this project was, grouping as I grouped the planets in the middle of the artwork. I also showcased formal balance by placing the planets in the middle of the page making it look pleasing to the eyes, and balanced. My project evolved from at first before the peer critique, I didn't have any stars in the background and by taking advice from my peers and as suggested, I added stars in the background.
The meaning behind this artwork is to be creative. For example, if you take a quick glance of this project you will just think that it is just a regular lining of the planets, but once you look closely you will the creativity behind it and how each planet is different and unique in a way you might not have thought of. This project relates to my life because at first with this project I was just thinking of doing a regular lining of the regular planets, but then Mrs. Medsker requested that it somehow be different, so this is what I came up with. Something that bothers me in this artwork is how sloppy some of the planets are, If I could go back and change something it might be to make the planets a little bit neater.
