Jellyfish
8x10''
The idea of my artwork is to look at the beauty in our oceans, so many people liter and are ruining the ocean and the creatures that live in it instead of taking the time to see what they're throwing away. Which is why I chose to make this project about jellyfish. I think they are so cool and beautiful and they are worth more than the trash in our oceans.
When making this artwork, I used a 6H pencil to sketch out my design that way it would be nice and light when I paint over it with watercolors. After I sketched everything out, I used my watercolors to add color, shading, and dimension to my project.
I used a lot of shaping and reshaping when I drew the jellyfish it was really hard to get the best shape of the "cap" for the jellyfish. I also used space as I tried to use up all of the space on the paper without making it look too crowded and just the opposite: not making it too spacious. My project evolved from different ideas to views on how i should make it, to the way it looks now. Next year when I do this project I definitely want to make the splotch of ink look like it was more included in the picture instead of it being obvious that it is there.
