The subject of my creation is the white space of leaves, a pine cone, and flowers that I collected. I made the work by looking at the leaves, pine cone, and flowers I collected and taped to a piece of paper, and connected them together by erasing the lines between them leaving the white space to connect them. I used a pencil to sketch out the leaves, pine cone, and flowers, then I overlined the pencil the a pen, to make the lines and I used watercolor for the background. I combined pink and blue together by watering tem down, and adding pink to the paper when the blue was still wet. I chose to create the specific background because I've seen artwork kind of like it before and I got inspired to create something kinda like it. Elements and principals I used in the drawing are line, I used this by drawing the outside of the negative space leaves and flowers. And I also used, pattern, I used this by combing pink and blue splotches for the background creating an ongoing pattern.
One composition rule I used in this particular artwork, was the "rule of thirds," I used this by having most of the nature objects on the left, and the background pop on the right, but still having it look aesthetically pleasing. My project looked a ton better when I added more water to my brush, and blended the background together a little more, and adding more water to my brush when the pink was very vibran, to tone it down, and make it look a little more subtle.
There isn't a meaning to the main piece of the artwork, since I was looking at the leaves, pine cone, and flowers, to draw it, but the background does have a meaning. The meaning that comes to mind for me, is kindness. The blue looks like the sky, and the purple look like stars, and the stars to me, give me kindness vibes when I look at them. They look so nice in the sky, and they always remind me to be kind to others. Something that bothers me, is the proportion in the drawing. Some of the things are really tiny in the artwork, and they should be a lot bigger.
