Sustained Investigation #18

I Miss Life

8" x 11"

The story behind this piece is about the girl in the design going through quarantine. This project relates to my life because Corona is very relative right not and very present in all of our lives. It is making everybody nuts and depressed at the same time.

At first I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. So I thought of all of the portraits I done, and they are all mostly realistic. So I decided to branch out more and go digital since I haven't done before. I got a picture that I had taken and drew over it and cover it with solid colors and little to no highlighting or shading. And then on the sweatshirt i incorporated more color to help answer my question and spelled out the sentence, "I miss life." I did this because a lot of teenagers and all people in fact miss their lives before corona. I put her in a sweatshirt because that is what everyone where during quarantine to stay comfy.

I made this project with the objective in mind that I wanted to focus on color and contrast to answer my inquiry question. I would say that I achieved this goal but not to the extent that I really wanted to. My portrait includes movement with her stance and her hands and metaphorically with the words on her sweatshirt. The portrait also includes grouping with the different colors. Grey in the sweatshirt and background, tan on the hands and face, and vibrant colors in the words, forming groups.
