The subject of my creation is a sea turtle. I made this sea turtle out of glass, I then added little dabs of elmers glue on the glass and put it on the glass canvas. I chose to create this specific artwork because my concentration is marine life so I made a sea turtle to go with it. Also I love sea turtles so that added to my decision. Specific elements and principles I used in this artwork were line with the shell and the details in the background, I also used and contrast with the colors on the shell of the turtle and the background.
Composition rules and techniques I used are formal balance with the shape of the shell compared with the body and the details I used. I also used grouping with the turtle and the shell. My project evolved while at first I was so terrible at clay and I didn't think I was going to make another project but I decided to after working with sculpey, I got more comfortable. And I like the way the shape turned out. I also was going to use glaze for the sea turtle on top but because of the time circumstances I was not able to. So instead I made a turtle out of glass which I still think turned out okay, but the clay turtle would've been better.
The meaning behind this artwork is to look at how beautiful these creatures are and how harmless they are. They seem so peaceful and that something that I really like about them, placing the tiny of pieces of glass in the background because I really liked the way it turned out. This project relates to my life because I love sea turtles and everything about them, which is why I was so involved in this project and so eager to go to class and work on it. Next time if I do a project like this again, I am going to add glaze to it because I know it would make it look ten times better.
