The ideas in my art work connect to my inquiry question because it's how someone feels when they listen to music. I couldn't made this more clear by painting a person listening to music but I thought I would work outside of the box and make the audience think more. This project is relative to me because when I listen to music i don't like to listen to the up beat rap that teen in my generation tend to like, I listen to calm vibing music that goes with the flow. So that i why I painted a wave on the record. Painting on record is also really popular and I thought I would try it out. And that also played a role in painting on a record. But it was a lot hard than I expected because I am used to painting on canvas paper which kind of has a groove for the paint to sink into but the record was very smooth and did not have little pockets for the paint to sink into.
I used the record obviously as well as acrylic paint to make this project. I also used a 6H graphite pencil to sketch out the wave. I painted a base layer of yellow to make the paint pop more and then added layers on top of the base layer. This project was actually super hard and I still don't really like how the wave turned our as I would've liked it to be more perfect but I can't do anything about it now so oh well.
I used value, form, and rhythm to create this piece. I used values with the different contrasts and values of colors. I used rhythm to make the wave look like it is moving. And I used form for the specific shape the wave required to make. My project evolved as I was going to paint these hippy people on the record dancing but then I realized that I am not good at painting people so I should probably change my idea which I did. My next step that I take with this project could be to add people or more subjects into the painting to make it more interesting.
