The subject of my art is one of my best friends Gracie Morse. I made this by using the graphing method to draw her face and hat, I then painted stripes with red acrylic paint and the hat with dark blue acrylic paint and the stars with white acrylic paint. I then shaded her face with red and blue colored pencil. I chose to create this artwork because I knew I wanted to do a portrait and Gracie is in my class so I asked if I could draw her and she said yes. Specific elements and principles used in my artwork was, line with the stripes, value with the lights and darks contrasting to pop, and unity with the stars together on the hat.
Composition rules and techniques I showcased in my artwork was, grouping with the stars on the hat together and low horizontal line as you can see with the mouth being biggest since it was the closest and the eyes are smaller since they are farther away. My project evolved because I messed up several times with the nose and I tried to fix it the best I could but it still isn't perfect.
The meaning behind this artwork is everyone should be friends no matter their background or where they come from, we should all be friends. This relates to my life because this is my friend Gracie. If there is one thing that bothers me, it is the nose because it looks really messy but really it's paint and I can't get rid of it because paint does not erase. Also some of the shading is a little dark.
