The subject of my creation are pancakes with whipped cream on top. This work was made by creating tinfoil disks and then mixing different colored sculpey and layering it on top of the tinfoil disks. I then rolled out whipped cream out of sculpey, put it on top and added little seashell imprints on the whipped cream because my camp is near the ocean so it adds a little detail. I chose to create this specific artwork because it reminded me of my camp where my family would eat pancakes every morning for breakfast. Specific elements and principles I used in my artwork was shape with the pancakes, balance with the 4 pancakes layered on top of eachother and the whipped cream in the middle.
One composition rule and technique I showcased in my artwork was grouping with the 4 pancakes stacked together. At first I was planning on sticking sea glass in the whipped cream for a garnish because my camp is near the ocean but It did not look so good, so I took it out.
The meaning behind my artwork is to value your family and friends because you will always want to hold the memories you made with them in the future. This relates to my life because I love my camp so much and I love the beach there and the people their. I've made so many memories there and my whole childhood was basically in that place, so my camp is very important to me.
