Facebook, Twitter, SnapChat, Instagram, GroupMe, and other chat applications are all wonderful forums, however they are never to be used while on the clock. Privileged information about fellow staff members and campers is never to be shared over these forums. Our policy is to not friend campers on social media sites, or have personal texting relationships with campers; however, we understand that this is a gray area as some of you may have family members who attend camp. If this is the case, you are to disclose these relationships to leadership and must exclusively post public posts limited to Facebook and Linkedin. Do not post pictures or names of campers on any form of social media including SnapChat. For personal social media, we ask that if it is not appropriate for your grandmother to see, and would not benefit you as a future employee, do not post it.
Please remember, you are a mandatory reporter. If you see anything inappropriate in a minors social media account, you are required to report it.
The computers in the KidSpirit office are primarily for business purposes. However, at the beginning/end of your shift please check and respond to emails, check Ideal-Logic, and print any work related documents. Please do not abuse these privileges. There are computers located in the mail room, KidSpirit staff room (Langton 126) and the KidSpirit office which may be used for computer work.
While working with children it is important to be aware of your professional appearance. You should be professionally representing KidSpirit and appropriately building your online professional image.
Calls may be made from the KidSpirit Office if they are related to work. If you need to make a local phone call, there is a phone in the hallway of Langton Hall for short, personal calls. Cell phones may be carried with you during your shift and be used for emergencies or brief work related calls or text messages; however, the ringer or the phone must be turned off and you are not to receive/make any personal calls or text messages while on the clock.
Inappropriate use of cameras, imaging, cell phones or digital devices is prohibited. It is inappropriate to use any device capable of recording or transmitting visual images in showers, restrooms, changing rooms or other areas where privacy is expected by participants.
