Preparations
Staff Training
The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for pool staff trainings during “breakout sessions” in Summer Day Camp trainings. The trainings and Training Manual are on The Brain under Trainings and Meetings🡪 Aquatics Training🡪KidSpirit Aquatics Training Guide. Additional trainings are in the master summer day camp training manual. Each Swim Instructor will receive a swim binder at the beginning of training.
Lockers
Any staff who are in the pool can check out a locker for the summer from the PAC office, located next to the KidSpirit Main Office. If they are an Oregon State University student, they need to provide their OSU ID to the person working at the front desk. You will receive an email containing your locker number and code.
Wrap Up
Pool Deck & Equipment Room
After summer camp, the pool deck and equipment room should be left in better condition than they were at the start. Staff must clean and reorganize the equipment room in the Women’s Building pool. Begin by pulling all equipment out of the room, hosing off and squeegeeing the floors, and then organizing and taking inventory of the equipment. Once all equipment is clean and accounted for, it should be neatly stored back in the equipment room. The pool deck must also be swept, hosed off, and mopped. When cleaning, aim the water toward the drains at the base of the walls and away from the pool, ensuring that no debris is left in the gutters or on the bottom of the pool. Return any borrowed equipment to its original location.
Locker Room Checks
At the end of the summer, staff should thoroughly check the locker rooms for any forgotten equipment, towels, or swim attire left behind. Staff who checked out a locker from the PAC office must empty and clean out the locker before the end of summer. If any part of the locker room requires cleaning, facility services should be contacted to ensure it is properly addressed.
