Aquatics Supervisor – The staff member responsible for overseeing all aquatics programming, ensuring safety, providing staff training, and supervising swim instruction.
Swim Instructor – The staff member responsible for delivering Red Cross-based swim instruction, monitoring student progress, and engaging with swimmers.
Camp Counselor (CC) – Summer-only staff who assist with camper supervision and transitions between activities, including swim lessons.
Counselor-in-Training (CIT) – Summer-only participants learning leadership skills while assisting with camper management, including swim activities.
Teen Leader (TL) – Summer-only participants similar to CITs, supporting camper supervision during swim and other camp activities.
Recreational Programming – Year-round after-school and weekend swim lessons with smaller groups focused on individualized instruction.
Summer Programming – Swim lessons integrated into full-day summer camps with larger groups and additional camp activities.
ACES Lessons – Single-day swim lessons offered for special groups or events.
Special Events – One-off or open-format swim sessions (e.g., parties) requiring unique planning and execution.
Pre-Pollywog – A parent-tot level where children are accompanied by their guardians in the water.
Pollywog 1-3 – Beginner levels that emphasize water adjustment and gradually introduce independence with instructor support.
Level 1-6 – Red Cross Learn-to-Swim levels with increasing skill expectations. Level 6 has two versions: Personal Water Safety and Fitness Swimmer.
Star Method – A system for tracking skill progression:

1 line (vertical): Student is beginning work on the skill.
2 lines (one vertical, one diagonal): Skill is demonstrated with assistance.
3 lines (one vertical, two diagonal): Skill is demonstrated independently.
Skill Sheets – Red Cross-based tracking documents used to monitor swimmer progress throughout the session.
SharePoint – The online platform where lesson plans, skill sheets, progress reports, and program documentation are stored and updated.
Ideal-Logic – The system used to record attendance, progress reports, and other administrative tracking for KidSpirit programs.
Dry-Land Lesson – An alternative lesson conducted outside the water in cases where pool use is not possible.
Incident Report – A form documenting injuries, behavioral issues, or biohazard incidents.
