Place students in groups according to the stroke performance criteria from the American Red Cross. Campers who have had lessons at KidSpirit before should have levels recorded in Ideal-Logic. These inputted levels will show up on the groups’ special concerns sheets and are on Ideal-Logic under the participant demographics for each group. On the first day of classes, skills test everyone. The levels on Ideal-Logic may not be accurate anymore. After children are placed in their classes, the head instructors will need to continue assessments. Campers must be in their proper class within the first two days.
Skill Assesments
Summer:
Campers line up at the deep end of the pool for assessments.
Skill testing is conducted using the exit skills from the swimmer’s previous level to determine readiness for their current level.
Swim levels from Ideal-Logic are verified on the first day, with adjustments finalized by the end of the day.
Recreational:
Swimmers are assessed at the start of the first lesson using exit skills from their previous level to determine appropriate placement.
Exit skills are listed at the end of each Red Cross skill assessment sheet, which can be accessed via SharePoint or Ideal-Logic.
Assessments include skills like bubbles, bobs, floats, glides, and basic strokes.
Swim levels from Ideal-Logic are verified on the first day, with adjustments finalized by the end of the day.
