Program non-specific guide; before and after each class and each term.
Attend KidSpirit Trainings
Make sure first aid and CPR certifications and all other required trainings are up to date
Check your IL and Bridge training: My Learning - Bridge (bridgeapp.com) to make sure you are up to date.
You can clock in for your Bridge training: My Learning - Bridge (bridgeapp.com) but NOT for your AED and CPR as those are a requirement for the job. If you have questions about what to clock in for, ask a supervisor.
When clocking in for these trainings, put a note on EMPcenter to explain what you were doing during that time.
Read through and understand the Gymnastics Staff Manual. If you have any questions, check in with a supervisor.
Create a lesson plan for the first day of classes using the gymnastics staff manual as a guide.
Go to "Lesson Plans, Progress Reports, & Attendance" on how to do this.
Send out First day of class emails to your classes. This must be done in the office using This Template. If you are, for any reason, unable to come in to send out the emails, let your supervisor know and they will set up a zoom link for you to do them on. All highlighted text in the template should be replaced with your information. Before sending your email, read through the template to ensure all information is up to date.
Submit availability, preferred weekly hours, and time off requests in Ideal-Logic. You cannot be scheduled until your availability is put in so make sure this is done on time to ensure you will be scheduled.
Examples of preplanned time off would be appointments, midterm(s)/final exams, class schedule, commitments
Pre-planned time-off must be in Ideal Logic within the first week of the OSU academic term. Please note that you will not be scheduled for classes that you expect to miss any more than two days of teaching. You will also be required to work or be available to work at least 3 weekends during every term so unless you have a specific reoccurring commitment on the weekend (In which case you should check in with your supervisor) you should not block off every weekend.
Make sure your phone has a voicemail box set up so we can contact you. Also, ensure that you have Slack downloaded and set up on your phone with a picture on your account.
Read over your special concerns.
Make sure that your lesson plan shows what you are going to be working on that day and you know which events you are on.
Go to "Lesson Plans, Progress Reports, & Attendance" on how to do this
Make sure that you have the following on your clipboard for each class you are teaching:
Attendance
Special Concerns
Check out list
Lesson plan
Skill tracking sheet
Behavior/Incident report
Gymnastics supervisors will print these before the first day of class. They will be located in the Gymnastics Attendance Binder either in the office or in Langton 126.
If you are the first person in the gym for the day fill out the daily gymnastics room checklist. Ask a supervisor if you cannot find this. It is in a green binder in the cubbies in the gymnastics room.
Wait for your gymnasts to arrive in the hallway(school year) or Langton backyard(summer).
Use this time to get to know your gymnasts and check in with them! Be friendly and introduce yourself to the gymnasts and guardians. Use open body language, stand up tall and bring the energy!
Write a slash in the box correlating to the date on your attendance sheet for each child who arrives.
If you have any absent gymnasts and it is time for class to start, hand your attendance sheet to the gymnastics supervisor and they will get the late kids up to class. You must leave to walk to the gymnastics class at the EXACT time your class is scheduled for. This helps ensure each gymnast is getting a full hour of class.
Make sure any equipment used during class is cleaned and put away. Equipment that was removed from the center mat area must be put back exactly how the picture shows to ensure all mats lay flat, or how they need to in order to ensure quality care.
If you are the last person in the gym for the day fill out the daily gymnastics room check-out list. Ask a supervisor if you cannot find this. It is in a green binder in the cubbies in the gymnastics room. If you are the last person in the gym for the day on a Saturday, fill out the weekly gymnastics room checklist.
If you are the last person, check that the lights are off, the windows are shut, and the heat is off, the fans are off, then take the walkie-talkie and any left items out of the gymnastics room and lock it behind you. The walkie-talkie goes in Janet's office and the lost and found is behind the office door.
Check out every gymnast in the Langton hallway (school year) or Langton backyard(summer) by using your checkout sheet and checking IDs. Write a slash in the checkout box with your initials on the top and the name of the person who checked out the gymnast on the bottom. If someone was absent write ABS in the box.
If someone picking up a gymnast does not have an ID on them, walk them to the office after checking out your other gymnasts. When the office staff gives you the okay, write the person who checked them out and "Office" in the box.
If it says "self-check-out" the gymnast may write their initials in the box, and then they are free to go. Self-checkout gymnasts are allowed to check themselves out whenever, but a supervisor should be notified if they leave early.
A supervisor may need to call the guardian if a gymnast checks themself out earlier than the guardian expects.
Fill out progress reports:
Update progress reports after each class. These progress reports are to be completed in the office before you leave.
Go to "Lesson Plans, Progress Reports, & Attendance" on how to do this.
Fill out attendance in IL
Go to "Lesson Plans, Progress Reports, & Attendance" on how to do this.
Write a lesson plan for next week's class; use your gymnastics staff manual and progress reports to do this.
Go to "Lesson Plans, Progress Reports, & Attendance" on how to do this.
Print lesson plans and place them on your clipboard.
Check the anatomy of the term to see if there is any extra work that needs to be done after your class. If not, check in with your supervisor, and then you can...
Put your clipboard, first aid Kit, and gymnastics instructor manual in cubbies, and then clock out
