Fine Art: This is a staff member who has technical art skills, and artistic training. They are proficient in teaching sketching, painting, sculpting, composition, balance, and design.
Craft: This person can make replicable projects. They can give clear and concise instructions, explaining the creation process so campers can follow along. They can create worthwhile projects out of very little materials, or random materials. They can make a lot out of a little. This person is typically part-time, and helps belay when there is rock climbing.
Music: This is the all-encompassing music, dance, and theater staff member. They can choreograph, find or create and produce plays, and invent new and exciting ways to move to (and create) a beat.
Education: KidSpirit Education classes cover the range of humanities, from history, understanding cultures, leadership, and social skills.
Science: The Science instructor teaches our “Explore” and “Discover” classes, as well as Technology. They need to be able to create hands-on inquiry lessons which allow the campers to discover the class’s topic while not feeling as though they are back in school. They need to be able design experiments with and activities with very little science-specific materials.
Active:
is typically our archery instructor, and does archery throughout the entire summer.
Usually teaches running classes and sports games (soccer, baseball)
Teaches Rock Climbing and focuses on sports games (soccer, baseball, flag football)
Generally teaches Biking and generic sports (In the Yard, etc)
Teaches generic sports activities, as well as the SKIES sports activities. Also generally teaches the morning TL class, so needs to have the skills required to do so.
